Some main barriers of very fast sailcraft:

Due to cavitation setting in at high speeds of 50+ kts rudders and boards start to loose their functionality. The response to variation in angle of attack is getting erratic and control of tack gets gradually impossible.

The classic approach in trying to use special profiles usually fails, since with e.g. supercavitation we are not any more able to have a monotonous lift response for angle of attack variation, which would represent the condition for full control of a craft by boards and/or rudder, except considering special downwind tack angles.

Supramar has an elegant solution to this problem with its SAG (Supramar Anticavitation Groove). We would be prepared to help you incorporate this device and break the speed barrier safely and successfully (for prototyp crafts no patent licensing necessary). The asking is yours: contact us
